That about sums me up

Hello, my name is Jennifer Morley. I am 43 years old. I was born and raised in Upstate New York and moved to West Palm Beach, Florida when I was 26.

My partner and I are parents of 8 year old twins, a boy and a girl. They are AWESOME!! We also have a crazy dog that we rescued from a sugar cane field.

I am a Deputy Sheriff for the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Palm Beach County is on the east coast of Florida and is approximately 2,383 square miles, one of the largest counties east of the Mississippi River. I patrol in a city called Belle Glade, one of the urban sections of the county. There are many challenges in this city as it is economically depressed. The unemployment rate is about 40% and the crime rate is even higher. I do enjoy the vast experiences though. I am in my 15 th year as a Law Enforcement Officer.

Fun Fact: My parents own a carnival……so you can only imagine the things I saw and the places I went growing up!! They still own and operate it to this day.

As a child, I attended public schools with my 5 brothers and sisters. In 1997 I graduated from the (SUNY)State University of New York at Oswego with a Bachelors in Psychology with a minor in Forensic Science. My grade school Art teacher, Mr. Zollo, sparked my creative side. I still enjoy drawing and painting. On a recent trip to New York, my kids had an opportunity to meet Mr. Zollo and work on an art project. It was exciting to see the spark in their eyes as they now too are artistically inclined

Only God knows what my future holds, but I have always been interested in teaching. I find myself trying to reach out to people I come in contact with everyday. When I retire from the Sheriff’s Office, I hope to continue to help people I come in contact with. I think I have a lot of life experiences that could help. I’m always up for a challenge. A master’s degree in Education will give me another tool to aid me in my quest toward a rewarding life. I want to set a good example for my children. No matter what path people choose, you can and will have an effect on their lives. I believe in giving a “hand up” not a “hand out”.
