Alachua County Summer 2008 Host Family Search Local Program Coordinator Contact: Debra J. Chandler, Ph.D cell home From approximately July 24 th to August 23rd, 2008 these students will participate in a Cultural & Language Enrichment Program here. They need a family to adopt them for 4 weeks! You can also choose to host for the full academic year.

Benefits of hosting What are the benefits of hosting an international high school student? * this young international student will learn about American culture, values and lifestyles from you * you and your family will build a relationship with your student that could last a lifetime * you and your family will be connected with others in the Gainesville area who appreciate cultural exchanges * building bridges and peaceful relationships amongst individuals from various countries moves us closer to a better world * $50 a month IRS tax deduction is allowable * as your program coordinator, I can offer years of professional experience working with youth and exchanges You can also choose to become part of the publicity and public relations activities locally and nationally.

Help us find Host Families from your community or organization – maybe YOU?  Only need to commit to approx 4 weeks  Students have their own spending money  Students are covered by insurance  You can choose the student you want  Additional information available including letters OR  Students just need a room of their own OR  Share with one of your children  You need to provide 3 letters of reference  Clear background check – no felonies  Questions? IRS Tax Info The above link goes to IRS Publication 526, which states that hosting an exchange student can result in $50 per month charitable contribution for tax purposes. You can find ASSE International, Inc. listed in Publication 78 showing that we are a qualified organization for this tax deduction.

Which Student would YOU like to host?  All students are carefully screened  You can review academic records  You will enjoy reading their sweet letters  Each student desires to be welcomed into your home  Each student needs a host asap  Once approved you can begin s  You may want to go to the airport  If you want to host for the school year, yes!  At the orientation meeting you will meet other host families in the area  We will help with car pooling and event coordination  We will provide support from the beginning to the end  We are almost out of time!  This could be the chance of a lifetime for you!
