What students say.... “I’ve tried everything from tutoring to self help books and I always seem to get grades no higher than a 75%. When I completed ALEKS my final assessment was a 96%, the highest I have ever gotten. Plus I was even able to retain the information I was taught.”

“This is going to sound strange, but I've almost become obsessed with ALEKS. It's like instant gratification. I turn to it when I get frustrated or tired of doing something else. I've NEVER done well in math, and I'm actually pretty proud of my interest/accomplishment/ understanding of math now. I LOVE ALEKS!!” What students say …..

The bottom line … 98 students took MDM summer students placed into college level math who otherwise would have had at least one semester of developmental math ahead of them $227 per student

MDM Summer ‘09 Operating from June 22 to August 7 Last recruitment, July 16 Number of Students:244 As of July 17, 2009 ◦ 13 students have completed ◦ 100 students are within 20% -25% of completing

Lessons Learned Capturing student data is critical to the success of the program and long term tracking. Familiarize yourself with your school’s advising guidelines. Enlist the help of your school’s testing and advising offices. Set clear policies about attendance and hours online, then follow through!

Lessons Learned Provide training to instructors about teaching in a “lab environment” Run Weekly reports from ALEKS on students status. Create a contract and have students sign it agreeing to the terms. Every time you see the student have a 5-10 minute conversation about their progress.

Questions? Thank you. Denise Lujan
