What are you preparing yourself, your children and grandchildren for? “Run in such a way that you may win” Hebrews 11 and 12

1. For faith’s battles ” Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old gained approval” Heb. 11:5 Faith is seeing the invisible as reality

2. For living as aliens? ” By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed by going... not knowing... by faith he lived as an alien in the land of promise... by faith he was looking for the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God” Faith is obedience to the point of action

3. For radical obedience? “ By faith Moses.. refused.. by faith he chose.. by faith he considered.. by faith.. by faith he left Egypt.. by faith he kept the Passover” Heb. 11:23-29 Faith is swimming upstream in a downstream world

4. For the finish line? “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us” Heb. 12:1-2 Faith is looking unto Jesus only

5. For God’s loving discipline? “M Y SON, DO NOT REGARD LIGHTLY THE DISCIPLINE OF THE L ORD, n OR FAINT WHEN YOU ARE REPROVED BY H IM ; f OR THOSE WHOM THE L ORD LOVES H E DISCIPLINES, A ND H E SCOURGES EVERY SON WHOM H E RECEIVES ” Heb. 12:5-6 Faith is surrendering to God’s will no matter what

6. For meeting Judge Jesus? “See to it that you do not refuse Him who is speaking.. much less will we escape who turn away from Him who warns from heaven.. YET ONCE MORE I WILL SHAKE NOT ONLY THE EARTH, BUT ALSO THE HEAVEN.” Heb. 12:25 Faith is the conviction that God will fulfill all His promises in His time
