We integrate technology, operational expertise, and a high capacity network of transportation providers to help customers reduce costs and improve the reliability and responsiveness of their service. In 1997 Schneider established its subsidiary Schneider Logistics Europe BV as a European headquarters in Venlo. In this young and dynamic company are currently over 80 associates of 10 different nationalities employed. As a result of this international group, the general spoken language is English within our company. Currently we are looking for a new colleague to fill the vacancy of: Transportation Advisor (M/F) Full-time 40 hours per week The Transportation Advisor is a skilled negotiator, experienced in bringing demands and capabilities together into a mutually beneficial relationship. He/she takes a fact-based data and process driven approach and is able to manage multiple projects by using and combining IT-tools with a number of operational and tactical disciplines. Box 240Tel.: AE Duties & responsibilities Collect, clean, process, analyze and visualize data, goods flows and costs. Design conceptual solutions to optimize the flows of material, information and funds across the client’s supply chain. Thoroughly gather the transportation requirements of Schneider Logistics’ clients, including the identification and understanding of the underlying business processes and needs. Clear understanding of the capabilities of transportation providers in the marketplace on a local, regional, national, and European level. Lead carrier bid processes. Act as a central point of contact between account management, internal departments and carriers. Match the client’s transportation requirements with the most optimal transportation provider. Establish attractive contractual arrangements with the optimal carrier(s) on behalf of and in close cooperation with the client and the Schneider Logistics team. Monitor the development of the client’s transportation requirements and the carrier’s capabilities pro-actively taking adjustment measures if and when required. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Economics, Logistics or Industrial Engineering Minimum 6 years of international transportation market experience in various modes (road, air, sea, etc.) Knowledge of international transportation liabilities and clauses Purchasing techniques and ethics and general contracting experience Project management experience; ability to design, maintain and control tasks, resources and milestones within project(s) Self empowered, empathetic relationship manager Ability to work closely and productively with a multitude of stakeholders Good presentation and negotiation skills Good knowledge of general PC based software (e.g. all MS-Office applications including Access and/or other data base tools) Fluent in English (speaking & writing), preferably German and/or French spoken Flexible in terms of working hours including travel
