GTCW’s role – Induction and the MEP GTCW undertakes the following administrative tasks on behalf of the Welsh Government: Collect, collate and maintain details of teachers undertaking induction (including supply teachers), and if relevant the MEP Notify and inform all relevant parties via web access - NQTs and other parties involved in the induction process to regularly check and update their online record held at Check eligibility to participate in programme(s)
GTCW’s role – Induction and the MEP Allocate an external mentor in line with WG matching criteria and implement a re-match when required Manage funding to schools for induction support and attendance at MEP learning events (years 2 & 3) on receipt of the required paperwork Collect and record induction results and issue certificates, if appropriate (induction results are submitted to GTCW by the LA as the Appropriate Body in induction) Hear induction appeals Other administrative tasks involving external mentors
Induction and the MEP To start an induction period you must hold QTS and be registered with the GTCW as per legal requirement Registration with GTCW – Registration Team Notifying GTCW regarding the commencement of your induction – Induction, MEP & EPD Funding Team

New online induction profile Available from mid-September 2014 NQTs, SBMs, EMs and Appropriate Body will access via online account (new level of access for school based mentors) All sections of the induction profile will be completed and stored online (including the external mentor record) Once available, no requirement to documents, instead documents must be completed and ‘signed off’ by relevant parties within the timeframes set out in WG guidance/handbooks
