MASTER TECHNOLOGY INNOVATOR PROGRAM [INSERT NAME] [LOCATION & DATE]

Today we will… define MTI; review steps to becoming a MTI volunteer; review volunteer activities; understand benefits; discuss next steps.

WHAT IS THE MASTER TECHNOLOGY INNOVATOR PROGRAM? The Master Technology Innovator (MTI) Program utilizes technology savvy volunteers to teach technology use to people at community anchor institutions like the public library, WIN Job Center, etc.

STEPS TO BECOMING A MASTER TECHNOLOGY INNOVATOR 1.Complete the registration form at techoutreach.msucares.com/mti. 2.Enroll and pass an online exam with at least an 80%. 3.If the exam is passed, candidates will be matched with a community anchor institution in their communities. 4.Volunteers are expected to report volunteering sessions using an online form. 5.Volunteers are expected to complete an end-of-program assessment online. 6.Participants must complete 80 hours (in no more than 12 months) to receive a Mississippi State University Extension Service certificate.

MTI ACTIVITIES Volunteers will help people with activities like the following: learning computer and Internet basics; opening accounts; helping with résumés and applying for jobs online; explaining social media privacy and security settings; learning to use specific technologies like mobile devices or e-readers; providing educational presentations- presentation materials for educational purposes will be provided by the Center for Technology Outreach faculty.

IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT MTI No volunteering will take place in households. All volunteering will take place in community anchor institutions during office hours. Volunteers must abide by the community anchor institution’s policies on technical outreach and assistance. Volunteers and community anchor institutions must work together to define schedules. HOW WILL THE MTI PROGRAM BENEFIT YOU? Volunteers Once requirements are met, you will obtain a certificate from Mississippi State University Extension Service. This is evidence of your service and could be noted in your résumé as community service and/or technical skills. Provides you with the opportunity to cultivate technical skills while helping others. Creates an opportunity for networking among community anchor institutions.

Community Anchor Institutions Receive additional technology support for clientele. Provide additional community outreach and educational opportunities through MTI activities.
