Recap lesson 2 Thinking about the light relationship wheel, if you increase the aperture size (reduce the F stop number) what must then happen to the shutter speed or ISO (or both)? What is a long exposure? What camera settings are useful for a long exposure?

Freezing Action Use a fast shutter speed Use a flash Use panning

Freezing Action Shutter speed is the main tool controlling motion capture and blur. Shutter speeds needed to freeze action differ greatly based on the subject and the subject's relation to the camera. For example, to freeze splashing water you may need a shutter speed of 1/1000 of a second or faster while to capture a dog running towards you a shutter speed of 1/250 of a second may be all that is required A flash freezes action by illuminating a moving scene for only a split second. Any pre-flash and post-flash movement then recedes into relative darkness and is unrecorded on your camera sensor Pictures in which a moving objects in focus while the background is blurred are captured by panning the camera in the same direction as the subject, such as following a football player running or a car speeding.
