NET WEIGHT POWDER DOSING BY WEIGHTPACK GENERAL DESCRIPION The Weightpack filler for powder and granular products, works on the principal of gravity filling electronically controlled by weight. The system weight electronics communicate with the HMI (Human-Machine Interface) from which the operator receives and/or sends data to the machine. The filling components called “the weighing station” are composed of: a product dispenser; a weight cell; dedicated electronic components. Every weight station gathers the individual weights and sends the data to a central collection and computing station. The filler performs the filling function without touching the mouth of the containers, which allows for hygienic and clean conditions. LEADER IN NET WEIGHT TECHNOLOGY
NET WEIGHT POWDER DOSING BY WEIGHTPACK PRODUCT DOSING AUGER CONSTRUCTION CHARACTERISTICS: The product hopper which is entirely constructed of AISI 316 Stainless Steel and in a conical shape, functions as a momentary product storage and feeder to the filling stations . The filling stations consist of: A small funnel for product travel, cylindrical in shape with a diameter of 100mm and down to a diameter of 25 to 28mm based on the opening of the smallest container to be filled. A pushing mechanism to gently push the product towards the container. A product mixer to gently mix the product in a counterclockwise direction to insure even mixture of the granulated product. An electric motor to assist in feeding of the product an on/off valve for the opening and closing of the product flow. The electronic weight scales, completely made of AISI 316 stainless steel, are attached to the turret of the filler with a quick connection allowing easy removal and replacement in case of emergencies. The weight scales are designed with weight limiters that protect the scale and insure long life, without the need for any maintenance. The moving mechanisms (infeed screw, feed stars, etc) are designed with torque limiters that protect the parts and insure long life. The moving mechanical components do not require any periodic maintenance. All the moving components and the materials used have been researched, designed and tested to give the machine the highest levels of safety, dependability, and a guarantee of productivity. The machine base is constructed in carbon steel and then covered with an AISI 304 stainless steel sheet. The machine is completely enclosed with safety panels and doors. The production recipes can be pre-memorized or easily programmed by the operator. Check of the net weight of the empty container (Tare): Net weight filling requires the system to verify the weight of each empty container. If the tare weight of the container is outside the pre-entered tolerances, the filling nozzle will not open, and the system generates a reject signal for the defective container. Due to the re-cording of the tare weight of each container, the system can furnish statistical data relative to the weight of all the empty bottles and of those rejected prior to filling. Control of the filling phase: The system, in order to obtain a precise filling, optimizes the filling curve, by continually comparing the actual filling weight to the preset “SET POINT” on the basis of 2000 readings per second. The system also recognizes any abnormalities in the filling, like loss of product on a defective container (for instance hole in the container or a container that has accidentally fallen); quickly closing the related fill nozzle and generating a reject signal for that container. Final control of the net weight filled: At the end of the filling phase, the system once again checks all the containers, and in the case of the net filling weight is out of the desired tolerance, it generates a reject signal for the appropriate container. Each container out of tolerance is rejected by the control system. Correction of the filling quantity: At the end of the filling cycle, if the filled product weight (even if within the acceptable limits of fill) does not exactly match the pre-set “SET POINT”, the auto-correction system is activated, which is designed to maintain the constant accurate dosage of the containers. During the whole time that the filling system is in production, the software that automatically controls the weight system, updates the correct function of each weight scale, verifying the mechanical, electrical, and electronic state on each rotation of the machine. The Weightpack software data base was specifically designed to furnish in real time the following useful parameters: Median weight of all empty containers (Tare); Number of containers produced; Median filling weight of all filled containers; Standard Deviation; Number of containers rejected as out of fill tolerance; Total of properly filled containers; Time that machine was available for filling. Every change part is designed with quick change parts and automatic locking in place without loss of timing. No tools or special mechanisms are needed for changing the parts. Height adjustment of the filler is assisted by a servo motor. The operator panel, by use of either a pre-set function or a simple and rapid program change, permits the selection of a new lot of production. The requirements for the operator are reduced to easy positioning of the change parts, and selection of the new program recipe. The reject system involves: A multi finger reject or a single lever reject depending on the speed range of the machine; A reject conveyor parallel to the exit conveyor to hold rejected containers (approx. 2 meters long); An independent drive system controlled by an inverter synchronized to the machine.
