Harp Seals & Lions By Michael Bailey

Baby harp seals can tell the different smells of seal to find their mothers.

Seals have more than one mate at mating time. Male seals fight to get the most female seals.

Millions of seals have been killed by poachers, which is why they are endangered.

The flippers look like fins or wings and that is why all seals and wall ruses are called pinnipeds which means wing-footed. A pinniped’s flipper is so flexible that it can scratch its head! To help them fly though the water these animals have flippers instead of arms and legs.

Lions in North America became extinct for over 8,000years ago! The longer and darker the male’s manes are, the more females will be attracted to the male.

Only males get manes. Males go out on their own to hunt and live at the age of three. There are about four-hundred lions left on Earth.

Stop lioning around Jr.! It’s a beautiful day! But Dad –I’m just doing what you do!! Well that’s just because um…. Your mother is doing all the hunting. Yeah right!!

Hey Marlin, are we in this slide show? No were not in this slide show Dory. This slide show is about seals and lions. What about sea lions?
