Method: Translated job satisfaction questionnaire into Tamil (and, for cross checking purposes, back to English) Training of Dutch and Indian students (1 day) Interviews in harbour area (3 days) Data analysis > tables
Conclusions from pilot study: Job satisfaction survey works, Provided interviewers are trained well, And there is a good prior knowledge of the fishery. Advantage: possibility of standardized comparison Danger: loss of culturally distinct understandings
