Mapping Wenke Apt J-AGE I Meeting Rome, 17 November2014

 Mapping of recent national and European-level (FP 7) research funding activity in the area of demographic change (as of September 2013, excluding institutional funding)  Identify funding gaps and opportunities in the medium- to long-term  Provide a baseline for monitoring future funding research activity across Europe (e.g. in J-Age II)  Create a publically accessible database Objectives and activities

 Multiple purpose funding programs o Programs cover more than just one of the JPI MYBL working group themes. o Broad connectivity of funding programs across JPI countries  Level of funding activity varies across countries o At the top of the political agenda vs. funding programmes not specifically targeted at demographic change or older people  Thematic priorities by program count o Highest: Health and Performance o Lowest: Education and Learning  Limited representativeness and reliability of results o Incompleteness of national contributions (e.g. lack of financial information) o Lack of specificity of many funding programs General findings
