● MBA in Sustainable Management from Presidio Graduate School ● Extensive industry knowledge ● Loves facilitating workshops : UC Berkeley Athletic Department : MicroEdge Solutions Conference : Super Bowl 50 Host Committee Passion for bringing together Corporate Social Responsibility and Technology to make a better world. About Laura Waters

● Example: Large auto membership organization’s Corporate Citizenship program. ● Success: Achieving outcomes beyond dollars and hours. Tracking things like meals packaged, toys collected, prom dresses donated. Various programs achieve around 16% over their targeted KPIs. ● Strategy: : 1. Have a clearly defined program with goals and specific activities that accomplish those goals. Track employee activities and clearly understand how they roll up into various programs. : 2. Tell your story in a transparent and candid manner. Include which goals have been met and which goals fell short and why. ● Example: “Camp Blackbaud” - A two day software product development camp for underserved youth. ● Success: Providing experiential learning opportunities for underserved youth that they otherwise would not have access to. Showing these youth that it is possible to have a career in software product development and what those jobs look like. ● Strategy: : 1. Clearly define a skills based employee engagement program. Engage with the Research and Development team and offer this program as a way for those employees to use their skills to “Do Good” within their communities. : 2. Evaluate specific events as a part of a larger program. Results of individual events are used to help set goals and strategies for expansion of the STEM education program in a way that makes sense for the community and the company. Examples

● Example: Large multi-national bank’s Community Development direct-funding program. ● Success: Supporting creation of more than 750 small businesses in local communities. Providing access to capital for more than 250 entrepreneurs. ● Strategy: : 1. Increase brand reputation in the market as a leader in community engagement. : 2. Create life-long customers who trust your brand. ● Example: Bank of America partnership with Goodwill - 10 week seminar to help youth with interview skills and job skills. ● Success: Participants in the program get hired as tellers for the bank. Participants in the program get hired in other jobs within the community. ● Strategy: : 1. Leveraging business skills of BoA employees and leadership. : 2. Gain competent and engaged employees for the bank. ● Example: Community Leadership Group engaging Alumni ● Success: Alumni re-engaging on social level (instead of monetarily). Increase in alumni donations – both new donors and repeat donors. ● Strategy: : 1. Re-engaging with alumni without asking for money. : 2. Using previous topics that alumni care about: public safety, arts, culture, and teaching them current themes – like how technology influences those topics. : 2. Hosting event with community partners to further enhance that link. Examples continued…

● Example: T-Mobile Partnership with Boys and Girls club. ● Success: Sales teams at retail stores love having the kids on site. ● Strategy: : 1. Asking what your partner organizations need. : 2. Providing experiential learning opportunity that gives the kids an inside look at the T-mobile company. : 3. Providing kids direct access to business employees so they can understand how to move forward in their own lives. ● Example: University of Washington Tacoma student experiential learning program. ● Success: Created a platform that allowed each student to gain skills they needed. Teams bonded throughout process. ● Strategy: : 1. Co-creating projects with multiple stakeholders: instructor, students, community partners. : 2. Providing initial conversations for setting appropriate goals. : 3. Limiting time so projects do not drag on. : 4. Allowing teams to self organize around an issue. Examples continued…

● Example: Seattle City Club – Program to thaw the “Seattle Freeze” (the belief that it is particularly difficult for immigrants from other cities to make friends in Seattle). ● Success: Many new community partners came on board. Seattle Seahawks took over the program. Noticeable changes to the culture in Seattle. ● Strategy: : 1. Align brand and talent with large recognizable brand such as the Seahawks. : 2. Share stories of neighborliness, community service and heroic actions on social media – using Seahawks brand to reach greater audience. ● Example: REI marketing campaign to raise awareness for issue influencing I5 corridor. ● Success: Raised awareness amongst members about specific issue and specific non-profit that REI cares about. Increased click-through rates for specific marketing campaign. REI came to better understand the true assets of the organization (disseminating information to members). ● Strategy: : 1. Using core competencies to spread message about certain issues. : 2. Geolocating 5-6 Million addresses within member base. : 3. Tracking click-through rates as related to other initiatives for comparison. Examples continued…
