Saturday, June 18, 2016 A-Day Objective: YWBAT describe methods of separating the components of a mixture. Drill: Is a mixture separated by physical or chemical means? Give an example Homework Study WOW

A mixture is separated by physical means. An example would be separating trail mix into piles of nuts, raisins, and chocolate chips.

Did you know…? Because less gas dissolves in a liquid if the temperature is raised, fish can suffocate when aquarium water becomes too warm – there may not be enough oxygen dissolved in the water.

Today’s Activities  Drill  Mixtures WOW  Write the procedures for the Mixtures Lab  Conclusion

Closure How might a magnet be useful in separating mixtures of iron and aluminium?

Conclusion Answer Only the iron will be attracted to the magnet
