I tought that one reason might be that there are no good sport fields near their homes. Aswell as the LUM research said it might be that parents can’t take them to the sport fields or hobbies. I chose my centrel idea because I have read that children do not exercise enough (Liikunnan ja Urheilun Maailma (LUM) research How to take care of children’s exercise).

One time a week 00/ times a week 06/ times a week 07/13 I interviewed my classmates by asking them how many times a week do they exercise. Results :

* The idea of the project is to bring comprehencive sport areas near to living areas. * Another idea is that the families would excercise together at the same place. You can exercise there no matter how ald you are. * There is also one that kind of sport field in Oulu but smaller. It is located in Oulujoki school’s yard.

Children do exercise on their own time and in practises. In the practises children do more exercise than in their own time. They go to the best, not to the nearest sports field. But when their mum or dad can’t take them to the best sports field / center they go to the nearest sport field with a bike or walking. When you go with a bike you do exercise at the same time.

* He also mentioned that there would be more participated kids in the sport clubs if there would be more sport fields. * I sent an to Kari Puronaho and asked him some questions. * I read it from a magazine called Yhteishyvä. * I was intrested in that because he mentioned about the need of parents to take their children to their hobbies.

1. Is it true that when there are no sports fields near children’s homes they quit exercise? KP: There are many reasons to starting a hobby and doing it. One reason is sport field access near their homes. Friends who have the same hobby, nice coach, interested of the hobby are a few more reasons. Reasons that they will stop the hobby are e.g. other hobbies, that your best friend stops the hobby, that coach is not the best, expensive, you don’t have time, and there are more reasons. 2. Was there any sport field near your home when you were small? KP: When I was small sports fields were far from my home. When I was 11 years old I started to go to school in the city 25 km away from my home. There were good sports fields & centers in the city.

3. Did you have to drive to the sport field by car, bike or could you just walk? KP: I travelled to the city with train or bus. In the city I walked. 4. Many children don’t exercise on their free time, because parents can’t take them by car to the sports field or center, or their friends don’t come with them. Do you agree? KP: Unfortunately sometimes happens so. It is good that almost all of parents can take their children to their hobbies and do everything for their children. From there you get good friends. Parents should guide their children to good hobbies. The time when children are small their parents need take them to the hobby doesn’t take long. Children grow up fast. I myself miss the time when I took my children to their hobbies because now they are already too old for that

The results were: * They agreed that sometimes children’s exercise might stop because there are no sport field near their home and/or their parents have no time to drive them to the sport field.. * I sent an questionary to ask opinions about children’s exercise to 5 Oulu city employees and got 4 feedbacks.

* The friends have a big role that the children do or do not exercise. But still your own opinion and willness to exercise is the best solution. And mode results : * They kept it important that there are sport fields near homes and that parents support their children it their activities. * In their aswers I got information that children do less exercise nowadays. But some of them do exercise a lot
