E-learning in The 21 st Century Content: Examples of e-learning webpage What is e-learning? Types of e-learning Why go e-learning? Tools for e-learning Web Learning 1.0, 2.0, 3.0

Examples of E-learning Webpage

What is e-learning? An education or training delivered using computer or other multimedia technologies Traditional way of teaching and learning method (chalk and talk) is diminished Involves individual or group learning as well as offline or online learning

1. Individualized self-paced e-learning online 2. Individualized self-paced e-learning offline 3. Group-based e-learning synchronously 4. Group-based e-learning asynchronously

Types of e-learning 1.Individualized self-paced e-learning online  individual learner accesses into learning resources via Internet 2.Individualized self-paced e-learning offline  individual learner uses learning resources offline; does not require Internet access  learning resources are normally copied into Compact Discs (CDs) or Hard Disk Drives (HDDs)

Types of e-learning 3.Group-based e-learning synchronously  learners engage in the learning process together in groups  active interaction among group members 4.Group-based e-learning asynchronously  learners fail to engage in the learning process together at the same time  delayed responses from members  poor interaction among group members

Why go e-learning? Student-centered learning, students act as reflective and empowered learners Flexible learning, can work from any location and time Self-paced learning, according to user’s ability, interest and learning style Cost-effective learning, less time, money and energy consumption

Why go e-learning? Increased retention, with audio-visual elements used in the modules Foster greater collaboration and interaction among students and instructor Instill confidence and motivation among learners
