Massachusetts Biomedical Industry 1  Largest Employer of Biomed R&D nationwide  Highest Growth in Biopharma Manufacturing in last Decade  2 nd State for Total NIH Funding for Hospitals, 1 st per capita

Massachusetts EE Leadership 2 Massachusetts ranked 1 st in the 2015 State Energy Efficiency Scorecard, maintaining its leadership position for the fifth year in a row. The state scored 44 out of a possible 50 points.

3 Eversource Profile  4,270 miles of electric transmission lines  72,000 miles of electric distribution lines  6,500 miles of natural gas distribution lines  578 electric substations Connecticut:1.2 million electric customers 220,000 natural gas customers Massachusetts:1.4 million electric customers 283,000 natural gas customers New Hampshire:510,000 electric customers Headquarters:Boston, Hartford We are New England’s largest energy delivery company, safely and reliably delivering energy to more than 3.6 million electric and natural gas customers in CT, MA and NH.

Unique challenges in Lab Environment  Projects have a Quadruple Bottom Line – Buildings that are commissioned and monitored are better than buildings that are left alone and unknown. – Air quality needs by space and use type are carefully thought through based upon current use of the building. This analysis is not needed in other building types. – Infrastructure is improved, reacquainting customers with energy efficiency funding that ultimately came from them. – Energy is saved, Carbon footprints are reduced as well as Greenhouse gas emissions 5

Project at Sepracor 6 Total Project Cost $8,190 Mass Save Sponsor Incentive $4,914 Annual Electric Savings 178,000 kWh Annual Cost Savings $17,925 Pay Back 0.2 Years Carbon Reduction 1,036 Tons Expanded EMS System to reduce electric consumption Added software algorithm to EMS program to evaluate area temperatures and monitor reheat During the cooling season, the algorithm minimizes overcooling and duty cycles reheat During the heating season, the use of gas fired pre heating units is maximized
