Presentation transcript:

Name: REEL  Based on the latest films, news and exclusives.  Target audience: male and female.  Featuring interviews, latest news, upcoming films, exclusives, pull-out posters, TV programmes/series news, advertising new dvd’s.  Frequency: monthly magazine  Overall purpose to advertise upcoming films. I came up with this name because real information will be featured inside the film magazine, and reel comes from film reel- associated with film.

Name: REEL kids  Children’s film magazine  Target audience 7-12  Featuring new children’s films  New edition each month  Comes with a toy- merchandise from film featured inside the magazine  Content; games (word search, puzzles, etc.) what the film will be about, what’s new, pictures, posters, interviews, competition.

PALADIN  Magazine based on superhero films  Target audience: superhero film fans  News, interviews on latest, upcoming superhero films and TV shows.  Posters  Monthly magazine £3.50

Lights, Camera, Action  Film and TV magazine based on the directors of upcoming films, interviews, short autobiography section, their ideas, what they want to do in future.  New directors, people want to be directors would read this to get ideas and tips in how to get into the career.

Other magazines This empire magazine is focused entirely on the joker, he is on the centre of the cover and the empire masthead is slightly off kilter. The joker is in front of empire which shows the importance of the character. The effect on the photo behind the joker is thermal and everything is cold behind him (blue and green) which could complement his cold personality. The front cover is focussed entirely on the upcoming film suicide squad, no mentions of other films on the cover. This specific magazine is a limited edition collectors cover. Therefore suicide squad must have a big fan base.

This total film’s front cover focus is on the upcoming film Batman V Superman. And shows both characters and Wonder Woman in the middle of them. Again the characters are in front of the masthead. The colours featured are those of batman, black and yellow. Quotes are used from interviews. Other films featured in the magazine are at the bottom

1: REEL  Name: REEL I came up with this name because REEL is associated with camera/film reel and real stories, exclusives, news are going to be featured in the magazine.  Design: Most important/popular news/film focus main actor/actress on front cover, with camera reel slanted along the bottom showing other articles featured in the magazine. Exclusive quotes from inside the magazine from interviews along the side/next to the actor/actress. Yellow title with film reel with grey background?  Frequency: Monthly magazine, edition coming out on 1 st every month to show what is going on this month for £3.50. This is so that there is time to create the best front cover, and get the best information and interviews for our audience.  Target Audience: 15-40, male or female. I have chosen this target audience because most films for this age group are for anyone, for example, James Bond, anyone can watch these films, whatever age.  Content: Inside the magazine, I will have interviews from actors, actresses, directors and producers from the latest/upcoming films. Exclusives, News and pictures of actors/actresses on set. An ‘on set with…’ section. Competition. Advertising films, film merchandise and DVDs.  Genre: the genre of the magazine is obviously film. However the film genres that are featured inside the magazine are going to be any genre, because the magazine is going to be based on imminent and popular films, no specific genre.  I think my magazine will have potential in the current market, because there are not many film and TV magazine’s which focus on the new series/new films out and the on set talk, spoilers and exclusives. Other than Total Film and Empire, there doesn’t seem to be a magazine that will suit from teens to middle-aged people in one magazine. Masthead/ font in either of these colours. Main cover in grey, depending on the film on the front cover, in which I may base the colour on. Reel

REEL: Sample Material  This is a mock up of the front cover of REEL magazine.  The front cover is dedicated to the new James Bond film Spectre.  The bold yellow/orange masthead stands out against the background.  Show reel at the bottom- in each square, an image of what to expect in this edition.  The cover does look a little plain so it will need some more features to make it more appealing, more text, stickers and images possibly. £3.50£3.50 EXCLUSIVE: On set with… the cast of Spectre ISSUE 1 MARCH 4

2: REEL kids  Similarly to my other chosen magazine, REEL, I have thought of creating a kids version. This is so that the children can be like the adults with their film and TV magazine, but based on the films for their age group.  The design of the front cover will have to be colourful to catch the eyes of children, therefore the masthead could be the same as the adult version of REEL, but the rest of the colours on the front cover could be based on the colours of the main film picture. and will have to have a selling point. This could be the latest of a line of films, with the characters on the front, for example the next Disney film, this could be the new toy story. Most children love the same range of films, cartoon films and films that have sequels.  I have thought about adding a toy to the front of the magazine like other children’s magazines, one that is associated with an article/focus in the magazine.  Target Audience: this is so that they are old enough to read and understand the films, and articles in the magazine.  Content: games (word search, puzzles, etc.) what the upcoming film will be about, what’s new, pictures, posters, interviews, competition. There needs to be games and puzzles to keep the children entertained.  Monthly magazine in order to make the best for the children who will be purchasing the magazine.  Advertise new toys, dvd's and merchandise from films.  I think there will be a place in the market for ‘REEL kids’ because I don’t think there are any children’s magazines which are based on films for their age group. I think that if children wanted to get a magazine and they’re interested in the upcoming animated, Disney, Marvel, etc. films they may want to see what they’re going to be about and how they do it. Furthermore, there may be a possibility that if they see their parents or family members buy the adult one, they may want to be like them and get the kids version.

REEL kids: Sample Material  This here to the left is the mock up of REEL kids magazine.  I chose an upcoming children’s film for the front cover, I also blended the idea of my previous idea REEL magazine, as this is the children’s version of it.  Also featured on the front cover (which is the same as REEL) is the show reel at the bottom to show what is in the issue.  I need to go over this mock up and add some more children-appealing features, such as stickers, and possibly attach a free toy to the front, like other children magazine.  Possibly need brighter colours, through research, other children’s magazines are bright and colourful ISSUE 1 MARCH 4

REEL/REEL Kids: Extra Notes Things which need to be included on the cover:  Masthead  Main focus (film, main character photo)  Barcode  Issue number and date  What else you will find inside the magazine  References from other movies, other than main focus  Snippets from inside the magazine Font for ‘kids’ part of the title Ideas for font of title ‘REEL’ REEL reel REEL
