TEACHERS Special education teacher Each special education teacher, with the cooperation of classroom teachers, has to identify individual needs and be responsible for creating a safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment that enables a child to succeed in their learning.

AIM OF TEACHERS As schools become more inclusive, special education teachers and general education teachers have to work together in general education classrooms. They coordinate the work of teachers, teacher assistants, and related personnel, such as therapists and social workers, to meet the individualized needs of the student within inclusive special education programs. A large part of a special education teacher’s job involves communicating and coordinating with others involved in the child’s well being, including parents, social workers, school psychologists, occupational and physical therapists, school administrators, and other teachers

TASKS of TEACHERS Teaching either individuals or small groups of pupils within or outside the class; preparing lessons and resources; developing and adapting conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of pupils; using special equipment and facilities, such as audio-visual materials and computers, to stimulate interest in learning;

TASKS OF TEACHERS collaborating with the classroom teacher to define appropriate activities for the pupils in relation to the curriculum (INCLUSION); Special education teachers help to develop an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each student. The IEP sets personalized goals for the student and is tailored to that student’s individual needs and ability. assessing children who have long or short-term learning difficulties and working with colleagues to identify individual pupils' special needs; Be in touch with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists and educational psychologists;

TASKS OF TEACHERS Be in close touch with parents; organising learning outside the classroom in activities such as community visits, school outings or sporting events; administration, including updating and maintaining records on pupils' progress
