Bikes By Bella Maitland

Penny-farthings. Penny-farthings got their name from a little penny and a farthing which are famous coins. Penny-farthings got their name from a little penny and a farthing which are famous coins.

The Chain. The chain is a mechanism that helps move the bike forwards by going around the gears when you push on the pedals. The chain is like a pulley!

Gears. TTTThere are more than 24 gears in a bike wow!!!

The Wheel If you put a piece of tape on one bit of the wheel and a bit on the gear near the seat and to make the wheel do a full turn the gear only goes half the way around!

How Bikes Help People! BBBBikes help people to save money because they don’t use petrol. BBBBikes help people to get places also getting exercise. BBBBikes can be used as exercise machines to lose weight.

What is a bike?  A bike is a machine that you can ride to get from one place to another.

Facts.  The penny-farthing got its name from two famous coin the penny and the farthing.  There are a lot of types of its really confusing I can only remember 5 of them!  Bikes are used in many different sports.

The Brakes.  The brakes on a bike have a little bit near the the wheel that slows the bike down.  Brakes are on all bikes.
