Opening Activity Key Terms - Format In your binder on loose leaf paper Fold paper in half so the left edge meets the red margin On the first line behind the red line margin write the number one On the first line of the folded piece of the paper write the word Lift the folded piece and copy the definition on the screen Skip a line beneath the definition and write a number two behind the red line Fold the piece over again and write the next term on the folded piece Continue until all definitions are complete

Heading for All Assignments On the first line of every piece of loose leaf paper you must use the following heading NAME DATE PERIOD# ASSIGNMENT TITLE Example: Colleen Erwin Period 2 Classwork Questions #1 - 10

Passing Papers in Class We always pass papers from left to right (W to E) We always collect papers from right to left (E to W) We always make eye contact and speak politely when passing and collecting papers

Absent Folders If you are absent from class for ANY reason, YOU are RESPONSIBLE for completing ALL the assignments you missed WITHIN ONE WEEK. All handouts will be in the YELLOW absentee folders in the file box at the entrance If you miss a test or quiz, YOU must make an appointment, either during class or after school, within ONE WEEK to make up the test or quiz. If you DO NOT make up the missed work you will receive a ZERO for that assignment

Grading Policy = A+ = – 93 = A = 4 92 – 85 = B = 3 84 – 76 = C = = D = 1 69 – 50 = F =.5 49 – 0 = F- = 0 3 quiz grades = 1 test grade You must earn four quality points to pass the course Homework and participation are ¼ to 1/3 of your grade If you make an “A” on a quiz or test, you get to sign the door. If you make an “A+” on a quiz or test you get to sign the door AND get a treat!

Tests and Reflections Every test will have a “Constructed Response” section Constructed Response sections are worth at least 15 points on every test After each test, you will complete a “Reflection” You will get your composition book Read a current event article Write a PARAGRAPH (5 – 7 sentences) telling me what YOU THINK about the article Reflections will be collected at the end of the semester for a TEST GRADE

Bathroom Passes If you must use the restroom in the event of an EMERGENCY, You must sign the bathroom log, get a yellow pass from me, return from the restroom within 3 minutes, and return the yellow pass to me. You may only be issued another pass if you come back at lunch at wait the three minutes it took you to use the restroom. If you DO NOT return at lunch you WILL NOT be issued another restroom pass – EVER!!!!!
