Needs 4 Over 1.1 million pounds of garbage removed from Central Business District Full trash bags are placed adjacent to cans for pick-up by Public Works staff No ability to communicate what is happening in various “neighborhoods” in Downtown

Challenges 5 Dispersed network of 400 cans throughout Downtown Fixed routing with no optimization

How will Application be Used? System will allow Public Works crew to use informed route based on current trash bag locations – Cleaner streets – Average cycle times can be tracked and managed – Better understanding of demand Better staff management/ resource allocation 6

App Features and Capabilities 7 User Groups – PDP Clean Team – DPW Division Crew Functions – Trash bags logged by location – Access to bag locations, number of bags, length of time in queue ( 4 hours) – Locations mapped – Turn-by-turn routing information to improve efficiencies – Management reporting: sorting by fields and date/ date range, statistics by locations (busiest sites/ corridors) – Ability to edit trash can locations Hardware - iOS (iPad, iPhone, iPods)
