Macbeth Act 3 What are the causes of Macbeth’s bold ambitions and quest for power?

Journal Macbeth Act 3 Take out your Macbeth script and your journal. Write the date and copy the questions below in your journal. Then, answer them. You will have 5 minutes. You do not have to count your words today. 1.What are the main events in Act 3? 2.How has Macbeth become more bold? 3.How has Lady Macbeth’s character changed?

Macbeth Act 3 What are the main events in Act 3? Macbeth and Lady Macbeth gain the crown to Scotland. Banquo is suspicious. Macbeth convinces two men to murder Banquo and Fleance. Macbeth does not involve Lady Macbeth in the murder of Banquo and Fleance. Banquo dies, Fleance escapes. Macbeth sees Banquo’s ghost at the banquet/feast. Macbeth states that they are but “young in deed,” meaning they have more crime to commit. How has Macbeth become more bold? How has Lady Macbeth’s character changed?

Let’s look a little closer to Macbeth Act 3… Find this excerpt on page 29 of your packet. Who is Macbeth referring to? What does he mean? Why is it “bold” of Macbeth to say this? He is referring to Malcolm and Donalbain, King Duncan’s sons, who have fled after the king’s murder. He is quickly pointing out that they are guilty of killing their father and then stopping any further discussion of it. Macbeth knows that this would be difficult for some to hear, especially Banquo, yet he says it strongly; trying to make them believe it and to keep Banquo from being suspicious, since he was also there when the witches gave them the prophesies.
