GUIDELINES FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE JOURNAL REFLECTION

Cover/ Title page that states the topic you have chosen. THREE reflective entries of 250 – 300 words You must select ONE source from each of the following categories: CREATIVE – e.g. poem, painting, photo, some other artistic representation (picture of a sculpture),cartoon FACTUAL – e.g. newspaper article, magazine article, internet article, journal article MULTI-MEDIA – e.g. a song, You Tube video, movie snippet, PowerPoint presentation Provide a copy of source & reference appropriately EACH reflective journal entry needs to address the following:

CREATIVE – e.g. poem, painting, photo, some other artistic representation (picture of a sculpture), cartoon marcuscrocker.blogspot.com Deviant art recollections.nma.gov.au

FACTUAL – e.g. newspaper article, magazine article, internet article, journal article

MULTI-MEDIA – e.g. a song, You Tube video, movie snippet, PowerPoint presentation

Provide a copy of source & reference appropriately EACH reflective journal entry needs to address the following: A PERSONAL RESPONSE reflects/ponders/deliberates/contemplates/debates an issue

Discuss WHY you selected this source? What attracted you to it? Discuss the ways your choice in each category relates to your SOCIAL JUSTICE TOPIC What does the injustice look like to you? Feel like to you? Discuss, in detail, specific aspects of the example you have chosen. For example: If you were discussing a newspaper article, you would respond to the key points and link them to your perspective of the topic you have chosen. If you were responding to a painting or a photo, you would discuss the use of colour, shapes, symbols and how it provides a representation for your Social Justice topic DO NOT simply ‘summarise’ the source in your own words. The key is to use it as a prompt for your refection. The language should be ‘personal’ given that it is a reflection. You need to really think deeply about what your response to the issue is. theunboundedspirit.com
