Disability Issues Advisory Board Year-End Report Provided support to 38 employees with disabilities, ensuring that reasonable accommodations were met This is an increase of 3 from During school year , the Disability Issues Advisory Board, in collaboration with the Compliance Officer, completed the following:

Disability Issues Advisory Board Year-End Report The DIAB collaborated with the PGCPS Office of Planning and Architectural Services, the Department of Building Services and the Office of Physical Therapy to recommend ADA upgrades to schools including: Installing automatic door openers Converting group and adult bathrooms to comply with ADA requirements Installing sloped thresholds at entrance doors

DAP Day participants included: Community Awareness Special recognition goes to Principal Cheryl Logan and teacher Shayne Swift for initiating Parkdale’s DAP Days and making them a success. Disability Issues Advisory Board Year-End Report DIAB continued to monitor the progress of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), an effort championed by your leadership on the 2010 UDL legislation and the participation of Dr. William Hite on the UDL Task Force that resulted in the recent UDL regulations proposed by MSDE. As UDL advances cognitive access and flexibility in classrooms, the work of helping to ensure physical access in our classrooms will be even more important. Legislation
