 Part 1 of the test (10 short constructed-response items) is non-calculator for all students, including students with disabilities.  Three of the remaining five parts (parts 4 through 6) are calculator active. These parts will include multiple choice (MC) and extended constructed-response (ECR) items.  Students classified with a specific disability that limits him or her from calculating mathematically may use a calculator and/or manipulatives (e.g., an abacus, number line, counting chips, etc.) on parts 2 and 3.  Students accommodated through the use of calculators must have the assessment administered to them in an alternative setting.  The use of a calculator or other specific manipulatives as an instructional and assessment accommodation must be documented in the student’s IEP or 504 plan.
