Independence: Third graders are working to gain independence and responsibility for their learning. Support Team: Teachers and parents are here to support them in this growth.

D AILY S CHEDULE 8:05-8:15 Time to prepare for the day 8:15 Class begins Morning recess 11:20-12:00 Recess & Lunch 1:55-3:10 Arts and Humanities (AH’s) classes **Snack is allowed to be eaten anytime during the day providing it doesn’t cause a distraction. Thank you for sending only fresh fruits and vegetables without dips or sauces.

H OMEWORK Read daily for at least 20 minutes aloud to someone Listen to a fluent reader daily (ie. Parent, older sibling) Practice reading skills Lexia (RCE website) 20 minutes daily Practice basic math facts daily (addition, subtraction, multiplication) Multiplication.com (link in RCE 3 rd grade links) Xtramath.com (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) Math work page sent home as review occasionally Spelling words

R EADING A T HOME Goal: Students are reading books they’ve chosen, they’re interested in and are a good fit for them (not too hard, not too easy) We are creating a community of readers Schoology assignments (watch for information via )

S PELLING New pattern each week Lists will be differentiated Students choose own list from class-created list and add 5 high-frequency words Students will copy list into their planner on first day of the week Activities in class to practice words Friday tests
