Robotics BY: HANA TAHA, LARAH DIAB, ELIANNA HANNA & BIANKA BODO TEKTREK INTERPRICES THE MEDIC- THE MEDICISST, THE MINIMED

Our Robot: The Medic Our robot, the Medic, is a medical and surgical robot which specializes in nurse work, surgery and medical field operations. It comes as two separate robots; one for nurse work: the MiniMed (MM) and one for surgery: the Medicisst (MC). The Medic preforms jobs from simple nursing positions to complex surgical procedures. MiniMed (MM)Medicisst (MC) 1. Checks patient’s weight and height1. Does complicated surgical procedures 2. Gives injections and vaccinations - Heart surgeries 3. Collects blood samples - Organ transplants 4. Delivers food and other necessities to patients as well as doctors and guests - Lazar hair removal 5. Follows simple commands and orders - Eye surgeries 6. Files and organizes records, papers and patients’ files -Applies stiches and completes other difficult and surgically related procedures

How The Medic Will Help Humanity Whichever your answer is, we guarantee you that The Medic is surely there to help and means no harm to anybody or thing. The Medic is made up of 2 robots that serve different purposes but both help humanity in a positive way that ensures our happiness and approval. The Medicisst, the surgical robot of the package of 2, is built to ensure that there will be no more doctor miscalculations or human mistakes to endanger a patient’s life during surgery. With no more unsteady hands and not quick enough reflexes, The Medicisst is the perfect doctor for patients of all ages. The MiniMed is the less advanced of the 2 robots, built to make no mistakes in calculations or in the misplacement of patients’ files and records. Both The Medicisst and The MiniMed, are built to ensure the continuation of humanity in an advanced but always safe way. When you say the word “robot”…. What is the first thing that comes to your mind….? To you… does a robot mean to harm or to help…?

Hardware And Software Hardware: The hardware that is needed to build a robot is diverse. It depends on what kind of robot is being built and what are its purposes. To build a complicated robot(s) like The Medic, we need to use a variety of hardware materials and equipment that will enable The Medic to function properly and in the way it is supposed to. To do this, we use an assortment and selection of hardware materials also used in other robots with different purposes. Some of the hardware that are built into The Medic involve all sorts of sophisticated and heavy industrial tools. The Medic also includes hardware such as muscle wire and sensitive lenses and many more things.

Hardware And Software Software: Not unlike the robotic hardware, The Medic’s software is also very diverse. A simple program can command the robot to do anything from moving a robotic arm, to calculating the mass of the sun, all in just a couple of seconds. This program can be part of the robotic software. The robot’s software sends coded commands that tell the mechanical robotic device what tasks to preform. The robot’s software controls the robot’s actions, movements and ability.

What We Will Do To Ensure That The Medic Does Not Harm Humanity We will drill both robots with the 3 laws making sure to cover all loopholes the robotic system can potentially find. The 3 laws are: -1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. -2. A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. -3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law. We have also built The Medic to follow the zeroth law, an uncommon but still existent robotic law. The zeroth robotic law is: -0. A robot may not harm humanity, or through inaction allow humanity to come to harm. The first, second and third law that are drilled into all standard robots will not be able to conflict with the zeroth law or will the zeroth law be able to conflict with the first, second or third law..

What We Will Do To Ensure That The Medic Does Not Harm Humanity We will make sure that a human is always present while the robots are activated or in use. Whether that human be a doctor, guest, patient, nurse or robotic specialist, The Medic is to never be left unattended while active. The human supervising The Medic does not have to be at the robot’s immediate side but somewhere near the mechanical device, allowing the person to rush to the robot’s side if a problem occurs. We will install cameras into each of the robots to watch what both the robot and other humans around it are doing. Surveillance will be taken and stored in TekTrek databases for future access if needed. A robotic expert will always be assigned to a hospital where more than one Medic is located, always there to fix a problem and take over if one of the robots stops functioning or begins to have or cause a problem.
