UPA – Diversity E

Phylum Name [1pt] Porifera -½ for misspelling by ONE letter -1 pt if misspelling by more than one letter

A. Organism Type [1pt] pore-bearers organisms with pores okay, too anything else – NO. I gave you this answer in class. no half credit…since I told you in class lots of times

B. Examples [1pt] need 2 examples of organisms ½ point each for 2 types of sponges if just “sponges” – No Credit. -1pt

C. Type of Symmetry [1pt] asymmetrical if also have radial, that’s ok, but you only need to have “asymmetrical” for credit -½ pt if only have “radial”

D. Coelom [1pt] none – do not need any other descriptor if you did not address this topic, -1pt. you MUST address ALL items on the project, even if the answer is “no” or “none” etc.

E. (Endo/Exo)skeleton [1pt] none of the above - has spongin & spicules ½ point spongin ½ point spicules -½ point if only have “none of the above” anything else? ask me.

F. Body Systems [1pt] none if you have reproductive…okay. if you don’t, don’t count off reproductive + ONE other system = -½ point if have any other systems, -½ pt each up to the 1pt this is worth

G. Get/Ingest/Digest Food [1pt] filter feeding if described filter feeding instead of naming it, ASK ME to see if you get full or ½ credit for your answer [or no credit…it depends on details] best description: [but unneeded] flagella on choanocytes move water through pores food particles in water are captured by amoebocytes

H. Respiration [1pt] diffusion if also have osmosis, ok -½ pt if ONLY osmosis

I. Reproduction [1pt] sexual [1pt for types of asexual] ½ pt for fragmentation ½ pt for budding [or gemmules] -½ if only have “asexual” but not types okay if only have the type of asexual [and not the term “asexual”]

Drawings [2pts] Two drawings exist 1pt per drawing -1pt for each drawing not there [1pt] BOTH pictures have titles picture has no title = -½ [2pts] need 6 labels [3 per picture] -½ per missing label [up to the 2pts] basically, need more than 2 labels to get any points.

Bonus need 2 interesting facts for 1 bonus point NO CREDIT for only one fact add the bonus point into the total grade at the top of the column for Porifera

UPA – Diversity E

Phylum Name [1pt] Cnidaria -½ for misspelling by ONE letter -1 pt if misspelling by more than one letter

A. Organism Type [1pt] stinging-celled organisms “stinging organisms” is fine

B. Examples [1pt] ½ point each for 2 organisms jellyfish [& any types of] hydra [& any types of] anemone[& any types of] corals [& any types of] have something else? ask me.

C. Type of Symmetry [1pt] radial symmetry anything else? NO. -1 pt -½ pt if you have “radial” AND something else

D. Coelom [1pt] none of the above if you did not address this topic, -1pt. you MUST address ALL items on the project, even if the answer is “no” or “none” etc.

E. (Endo/Exo)skeleton [1pt] water pressure [aka hydrostatic skeleton] -½ pt if you have calcium & other minerals but NOT water pressure Ok if you have both if you have “exoskeleton” bc of the Ca 2+, cross it out -½ point if only have “neither” -1 point if you have anything else

F. Body Systems [1.5pts] ½ point each ½ pt muscular ½ pt nervous reproductive / digestive ok, but not needed. gastrovascular ok, but not a real body system if you don’t have any, minus all 1.5 pts. if have any other systems, -½ pt each If you don’t have musular, nervous, reproductive or digestive/gastrovascular, all -1.5pts

G. Get/Ingest/Digest Food [2pts] 1pt tentacles 1pt gastrovascular cavity if you have mouth only, then -½ point great if you have the nematocysts and cnidocytes, but not needed on your page anything else? ask me.

H. Respiration [1pt] diffusion if also have osmosis, ok, but not needed

I. Reproduction [1pt] sexual [1pt] budding -½ if only have “asexual” okay if only have the type of asexual [and not the term “asexual”] if have sexual and asexual w/ alternation of generations, ok, but not needed.
