What is a Community? The area where we live. Places we know and visit in our area. People in our area.

How do we get from place to place in our community? Walk Drive Bus Roads Streets (Draw pictures of roads and ways to travel)

What is Cyberspace? Cyberspace is a community just like the one we live in. What do you see in Cyberspace? There are libraries, stores, museums, and all kinds of cool places for learning and having fun. You can visit places in the Cyber community just like you can visit them in the community and neighborhood where you live. We call places in cyberspace “Websites.”

How do we get around in Cyberspace? You get around by using the computer. It’s easy to visit places in Cyberspace because you don’t have to leave your home. The road in cyberspace is called the “Internet.” Sometimes it is called a superhighway. (Draw or write ideas of what you can use to go places in cyberspace)

The Internet Name some good websites you have visited before. i-Buddy went on the internet one day. His dad helped him get to a fun website. i-Buddy clicked the mouse a few times and ended up in a different place. He knew this wasn’t the place he wanted to be. He tried to get back, but he couldn’t, i-Buddy called for his dad to help. His dad came and got him back to the right place.

Do you think i-Buddy’s dad was mad? Why? What do you think you should do if you click around and end up somewhere you don’t want to be? If you get lost in cyberspace, you should call an adult to help. (Draw a face on i-Buddy to show how he felt when he got lost. Then draw an adult you would call for help.)

Draw i-Buddy’s face to show how he felt when he got help. draw an adult you would call help. What should you do if you get lost in cyberspace? Get help from and adult.

What is a citizen? A citizen is someone who is a part of a community. You are a good citizen if you follow rules in your community. What would you call a citizen in cyberspace? A cyber citizen. If you are a good citizen, you make good rules and you follow them. What are some rules your parents have made for you? (Draw a picture of yourself in the space next to i-Buddy)

i-Buddy wants you to remember that kids should follow the rules their parents or guardians make for them when using the computer and the internet. i-Buddy says that being smart on the computer is being Cyber Smart, and Cyber Smart is Cyber Safe.
