From the start. Revise each week after every lesson Revise each month to familiarise yourself with connecting concepts Revise each term to see the whole picture Revise more as the exams come closer. When should I revise?

When should I revise? Create a Revision Timetable Revision Timetable MondayTuesdayWednesdayThursdayFridaySaturdaySunday

Practice What are the advantages of using more than one method? How/when will you practice these techniques? “You have not learned anything until you have memorised it” You need to consolidate material at least four times to ensure it is effectively stored in your long term memory

Be a smart reviser Take lots of breaks; Research has shown that time frames between 30 minutes to 45 minutes are optimal session for peak concentration. Longer sessions and your mind wanders Use another part of your mind in the break, do a physical activity or mediation, so that you return to your studies refreshed Use music, (if it helps you learn). Use lots of colours, symbols and acronyms. Mind maps, spider diagrams and shape charts are all useful. Use big sheets of paper. Practice makes perfect. Familiarise yourself with the exam structure, the types of questions asked, the marking scheme and how you are going to manage your time. Practice individual questions or sections in your own time, the more you familiarise yourself with the exam structure and style the better your answers will become.

Be a smart reviser – Exam practice How many Past Papers have you completed to practise your exam skills?

Sample Examiner’s Report Question 2 “… The majority of students showed good knowledge of either the product life cycle, the marketing mix or both. Some students found it difficult to focus their response on just one element and/or relating it to the short life cycle and often drifted between several elements or all therefore losing the direction of their response. A few students had obviously spent some time drawing nicely presented product life cycle charts which was unnecessary.”

Be a smart reviser – Exam practice What did your last Examiner’s Report say? Do you recognise yourself in these comments? What does the Examiner say you need to avoid? What does the Examiner say you should do more of?

Be a smart reviser – Exam practice How are you going to implement any changes?
