A quick look at the Civil War Created by Ms. Dennis’ fifth grade class 08/09

by: Destiny In 1819, Missouri wanted to re-join the US as a slave state. Adding Missouri would have upset the difference between free states and slave states. Henry Clay came up with the compromise. He said that Missouri could join as a slave state and Maine could join as a free state. congress debated the issue and disagreed. That’s what started the Civil War.

The Compromise Of 1850 By:Crews The Compromise of 1850 was arising from the Mexican-American War it happened It happened because of The Fugitive Slave Act. There are many reasons why the Compromise happened one is that California-A territory that had big with the gold rush of 1849.

Reconstuction Lincoln wanted to bring the nation back together, he didn’t want to punish the people of the South. Congress put the Southern states under military rule. Southern states had to write new constitutions that gave African American men the right to vote.
