About us Founded in 1999 by a group of enthusiasts with the goal to promote organic agriculture. By introducing the „Green telephone” in 2003 the emphasis shifts to environmental protection. In 2013 „Eko-Zadar” expands again and becomes NGO for promotion of organic farming, environmental protection and sustainable development. Today, „Eko-Zadar” gathers 40 active members.

B.transparent Overall objective: To affirm civil society organisations (CSOs) as equal partners in ensuring open governance and transparency in managing public goods and natural resources in Natura 2000 protected sites Results: Strengthening of CSOs’ capacities through organisation of educations, round tables and networking events Sociological survey on current methodology in information transfer in management of the area produced Establishment of cooperation between CSOs and local authorities through team building and drafting of documents that will ensure sustainable management of public goods and natural resources in Novigrad and Karin Sea area

Urban gardening Overall objective: To encourage citizens to plant green oases on their rooftops and to change their urban way of living by growing and harvesting their own fruit and vegetables, saving energy in the process as well to expand the green rooftop model on all schools in Zadar County Results: Lecture on the importance and efficiency of green rooftops by permaculturists from CSO ZMAG Planting the green oasis on the „Šime Budunić” primary school rooftop as well as on the rooftop of an apartment building in Zadar urban area

I too am a part of nature Overall objective: To popularize environmental protection and promote nature values in urban Zadar area. To stimulate the interest of elementary school children on flora and fauna, their engagement in environmental protection sphere through involvement in the civil sector activities, and strengthening the intersectoral cooperation between the public sector and the civil society in environmental protection sphere. Results: Five educational two-day workshops on topic of nature protection and preservation Distribution of linen bags to schoolchildren in order to decrease the usage of plastic bags Publication „Eco cat's practical advice“ – coloring book, workbook; distributed to schoolchildren to raise their awareness on the importance of proper recycling

Green calendar Overall objective: To inform citizens about the significance and means of nature preservation, and to mark and celebrate the most important dates involving environmental protection Results: Educational „3R”- Reduce, Reuse, Recycle workshops Workshops and lectures on identifying and collection of wild edible plants Measuring the ecological footprint Commemorating Nature Protection Day (May 22nd), World Environment Protection Day (June 5th), International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer (September 16th), European Mobility Week (September) and European Week for Waste Reduction (November)

AlterPOP Overall objective: To encourage entrepreneurial spirit in Zadar County and develop a positive attitude towards lifelong learning through promotion of alternative approaches to agriculture Results: Visits to successful food producers in Zadar County as examples of good practices Promotion of ecologically produced food at six eco fairs in Zadar County Networking of beneficiaries through organization of lectures, workshops and round table on the topic of organic and ecological production of food and other products

Overall objective: To educate young adults on the importance of improvement and preservation of the Komoševa bay landscape, raise ecological awareness and improve the quality of life on islands Results: Komoševa bay cleaned and its landscape embellished by planting mediterranean plants, painting and installing wooden benches along the bay Eco workshop and exhibition of lampions made of discarded mason jars Workshop on painting of linen bags
