SEDA SEDA is the professional association for staff and educational developers in the UK. SEDA aims to: promote innovation and good practice in HE support and lead educational change. The awards framework supports and recognises the different professional development needs of staff as their careers develop

SEDA Professional Development Framework (PDF) 1993: SEDA began university ‘teacher accreditation’ based on participants demonstrating agreed outcomes & values From 2000: developed and widened professional accreditation as the SEDA ‘Professional Development Framework’ now comprising 18 named awards 2012: two named awards were accredited against UKPSF D1 and D2; others can contribute to evidence for D3 The awards framework supports and recognises the different professional development needs of staff as their careers develop Awards are “level free” and can be adapted to the needs of the participants

Values Values (applicable to all awards) The SEDA values are at the heart of all awards and all participants are required to show how their work is informed by the SEDA Values: Developing understanding of how people learn Practising in ways that are scholarly, professional and ethical Working with and developing learning communities Valuing diversity and promoting inclusivity Continually reflecting on practice to develop ourselves, others and processes

Core Development Outcomes Core Development Outcomes (applicable to all awards) Participants must show how they fulfil the following outcomes: CO1. Identify their own professional development goals, directions or priorities CO2. Plan for their initial and/or continuing professional development CO3. Undertake appropriate development activities CO4. Review their development and practice, and the relations between them
