£10M Invested In Tewkesbury Extra Care Housing! In 2004 Gloucestershire County Council produced a successful partnership bid to the DoH for Tewkesbury to build a 75 unit Extra Care scheme to be located on the Bredon Road development site. DoH awarded £4M towards Extra Care development Hanover Housing are investing £6M in development Scheme will be a mixture of 1 &2 bed flats, bungalows and will include on site care services, therapy facilities, cinema, IT suite, onsite restaurant and infrastructure for SMART technology. Opened January 2008 Supports agenda to help people to live independently as long as possible

Marina Court - Therapy and Wellbeing Services Extra Care moving towards prevention agenda… Joint appointment by Health and Social Care of a personal trainer qualified in exercise and health to provide a range of activities on a and group basis including: o Active balance o Reminiscence therapy o Nintendo Wii sessions o Organises events and trips o Health promotion events oTelehealth / Medicine

Physical Activity: A number of regular classes per week Proportionate attendance of people from Marina Court and the local community Regular sessions include: Healthy heart Seated Activity Active Balance Holistic therapies Tai chi Breathe Easy/Pulmonary Rehab Expert Patient Programme/Caring For Me Cardiac Rehab

History in the Making: Further Education Session 1: Restoration of Out of the Hat & history of retailing in Tewkesbury Session 2: Writings of John Moore and local wildlife Session 3: Local Romany talking on Tewkesbury’s largest ethnic minority people attended each session.
