Network Novell Linux, Microsoft, and Netware Servers Windows 7 or Vista (English) – Windows 7 “Professional” is the recommended Desktop OS – Windows 7 “Starter,” “Home,” and “Home Premium” lack necessary network support
Network Accounts Three Georgetown Accounts – UIS – For Mainframe Apps Blackboard MyAccess Any system with “privileged” data – Google Apps at MSB Online Collaboration – MSB Printing Account (Novell) Network Printing Each Account has an Independent Password
Privacy Reasonable Expectation of Privacy Passwords should be yours alone – “A secret two people know is not a secret” Requirements: – At least 8 Digits Long – At least 1 uppercase & 1 lowercase letter – At least 1 number – At least 1 punctuation mark – Cannot contain dictionary word All network account requests must have ID
Access On Campus – Wireless SSID = “HOYAS”; No WEP or WPA Wireless setup requires specific procedure Off Campus – Multiple Remote Access Options POP / IMAP / Web Services PDA Support
