A Raisin in the Sun/Segregation Unit Board/Card Game Global Brennan/Vallaro

Assignment: Using information from the unit of study, create a board/card game similar to (online rules): Monoply ( Chutes and Ladders ( ladders-rules.html) Candyland ( Card game: Old Maid ( Sorry ( (This is not an inclusive list but are suggestions to get the group started.)

Now, you will be placed into groups of 5 to 6 members to: Brainstorm with group Sketch:  Layout of game with rules and scoring  Create list of needed materials  Layout of box to house game (needs to list creators’ names!)

Board/Card game will include: _____ Theme and/or storyline of: A Raisin in the Sun Segregation in the US ( ’s) _____ Game Objective _____ List of Game Pieces _____ Game Rules with scoring explained _____ Board/Cards and all necessary pieces _____ Box for game with creative cover and all group members’ names.

Time Frame: One class period - explanation and brainstorming One class period to continue to work in groups (Thurs & Fri) Two days of outside class time to gather needed materials (Weekend) Double class period to put game together with group Double class period for GAME DAY

Game day: Meet at the tables in library (to set up board games) Groups will rotate in 10 minute increments playing each game. Groups will keep scoresheet (set up at each station).

Grading: Project game in English (see rubric) Winner of each game – extra credit in Social Studies
