Remember: Hydrate – take in lots of fluids Get adequate rest Avoid harmful substances Illegal DrugsAlcohol TobaccoAnabolic Steroids SYNTHETIC HOROMONE- TYPE SUBSTANCES CancerSkin problemsWeight gain Heart DiseaseHair lossWeight loss SterilitySuicidal tendencies Limit caffeine

Use proper equipment: Clothing Undergarments Footwear Head gear Night gear

Avoid: body cannot get rid of excessive heat causing hyperthermia Overexertion –heat exhaustion can cause shock symptoms Heat cramps – Heatstroke – muscle spasms from lack of salt and water

Frostbite – body tissues become frozen Hypothermia – body temp is too low Skin Cancer - deadly! Protect skin and eyes! SPF 15

Injuries: Muscle cramps – spasm –needs hydration Strain – damage to muscle or tendon Sprain – injury to a ligament Fracture – break in bone Dislocation – bone forced out of position Tendonitis – overused or stretched tendons Concussion – blow to head, can cause swelling
