Talk about your concerns about the excessive use of mobile phones to your child. Set rules about when s/he can use mobile phones. The purpose of ownership – talk about why this privilege is given to your child and the reasons why not to abuse it State the consequences if they overuse the phone - i.e.. do not abide by the rules Excessive use of mobile phones

Talk to your child about internet safety, Setting right password, not sharing password, Refraining from posting statuses on social networking sites with abusive language or passing judgmental comments about any community or religion or country. When displaying personal pictures on social networking sites, insist on using privacy policy. Not accepting friends request from strangers. Limit the use of Wi-Fi. Do not share Wi-Fi passwords. There are many students who are influenced to experiment with substances like consuming, alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, shisha, dokha, weed and others. Ethical limitations in counseling does not allow counselors to reveal identities of students. The tips provided help to provide necessary guidance to your child overcome substance use. Early interventions can help prevent further harm. Substance Use

 Sudden Increased appetite- craving for junk food,  Red eyes,  Forgetfulness,  Sleepiness,  Irritability and mood swings. General symptoms when children use substances

 Signs of isolation or depression.  Drop in academic performance.  Sudden drop in interest in studies.  Sudden change in peer group. General symptoms when children use substances

Avoid physical punishment. Remember beating up your kid will not serve the purpose. Parents’ Role IF YOU FIND YOUR CHILD USING SUBSTANCES…

Avoid Moralizing, Ordering, Threatening, Arguing, Over- interpreting, Judging. Set a rapport Try to find out the frequency of usage. Contact a counselor. If you find your child using/ experimenting with substances…
