Seven Steps… to a successful interview

Be prepared Being well-prepared will boost your confidence and lower your anxiety. Research the industry and company, as well as how your skills match the responsibilities of the position

Be prepared Being on time means arriving at least 15 minutes before your scheduled interview. Be on time: Allows you to calm down, focus and review your résumé Review your notes during the interview.

Dress to impress. Your interview attire should be tastefully simple, clean and wrinkle- free. Be conservative when deciding what to wear.

Types Of Interviews Telephone screening One on One Behavioral Situational Panel or Group Multiple Interviews

Common Interview Questions Draft answers to the most common interview questions and practice speaking them out loud. Remember to speak in the first person. –Tell me about yourself? –Why should we hire you? –What is your greatest weakness? –Why did you leave your last job?

Common Interview Mistakes Arriving late Dressing Inappropriately Lack of Preparation Entering the interview smelling of cigarettes Negative comments or statements about anyone Distractions

Ask Questions This lets the interviewer know that you are truly interested in the company and the position. –Why did YOU decide to work here? The employer has to step outside of interviewing mode to answer you on personal mode –What is the one thing I can do to succeed at this job? –How soon will you be making a decision? –What are the next steps?

Follow Up Send a thank you card or within a 24hr to 48hrs. Personally evaluate your performance for improvement.
