Labelling a Product How to care for a product. The label must also include: Country of origin Fibre Content Care label BSI Kitemark British Standards Institute CE Mark European safety standard Lion Mark Children’s safety standards

What do you know? To ensure that the customer knows how to care for the product. Why do textile products carry a care label? Trade Descriptions Act Sale of Goods Act Consumer Safety Act Which types of legislation ensure that customers are protected from buying faulty products? The description must be true! If it says windproof, it must be windproof. If it says cotton it must be cotton! Give one example for the Trade descriptions act. The product must perform as expected. If there is a fault you can return it for a full refund. Give one example for the Sale of goods act. Give one example for the Consumer safety Act. Safety regulations on small children’s clothing. No cords at neckline, no metal zips, decoration must not come off.
