Purpose The intent of this presentation is to provide a high- level overview of graduate and leaver responses. It is not intended to look at the responses to all 56 survey questions. Let’s look at our students survey responses and begin to have a conversation about improvement strategies on campus. Some of the best information comes from our students comments within the surveys. HawCC Local GL Process Since AY 2009 surveys no longer published Our local process is: 1)Completed graduate leaver surveys have names removed (redacted) so that they can be shared with a larger audience. 2)The surveys are sent to the Admin Team, which will share the results with the Senate Chair's and DC's. 3)I will make the redacted surveys available to anyone that requests them. The Survey Library on the IR website has instructions for contacting me for a copy of the surveys. 4)My responsibility to this process as far as sharing the surveys with HawCC will end once I have ed the surveys to the Admin Team unless I hear otherwise.
Annual GL Survey of HawCC Students Our students are surveyed every year to elicit feedback on their experiences at the college. All surveys are sent out by . There are actually 4 separate surveys sent out each year: CTE Graduate Survey CTE Leaver Survey Liberal Arts Graduate Survey Liberal Arts Leaver Survey
Who is a graduate/leaver? Students last enrolled during the last full academic year; in good academic standing (not on probation, suspension or dismissed); accumulated at least 30 semester hours; in a degree program (not special or unclassified); graduated or left without graduating during the Fall 2012, Spring 2013 or Summer 2013 Semesters; not enrolled in the current Fall term (fall 2013).
Types of Questions found in the Surveys There are 2 main types of questions that make up the graduate leaver surveys. 1)Required University of Hawaii System Survey Questions [Community College system responses are included in system wide reports such as the University of Hawai‘i Measuring Our Progress (MOP) Report and the UHCC Strategic Plan Key Performance Indicators. 2)Additional campus questions of our choosing.
Type of Responses found in the Surveys There are 2 main types of responses in the graduate leaver surveys: Required University of Hawaii System Survey Questions: No opportunity for open ended responses. Local Campus Survey Questions: Multiple opportunities to elicit responses from our students including, open ended questions about how we can improve services and experiences at the college. GL Survey Response Rates Overall there were 761 surveys sent out last year. 105 surveys were completed. Overall response rate was 13.8% Response rates were also calculated for each group.
