No title or caption England, India, and Egypt No dates or numbers

Tentacles, man with top hat, pieces of land, and hands Tentacles symbolize England as a monster, man with top hat symbolizes England upper classes, pieces of land are the countries or territories grabbed by England, and the hands symbolize how England has it’s interests in each of these countries.

England, because it’s in the center and it’s highlighted in white Greedy, destructive, selfish, scary

England is grabbing land from many territories and countries The words label each of the countries and territories England is conquering or forcing itself upon these countries and territories England may disagree because they are portrayed as a monster. The other countries may agree because they are being “stolen”

Discuss with a partner: 1.What do you see? 2.What is the message? 3.Who may agree or disagree? Why?

There are 6 political cartoons. With a partner, carefully and thoroughly examine each cartoon and complete a Cartoon Analysis form for each one. You will have 5 minutes for each cartoon. Write what immediately comes to mind and move on to the next question. Try to look at every piece of the cartoon.
