Employer Partnerships Progress Press about program and grant Grass roots plan to find sites was effective Visits completed with more visits upcoming next school year Site interested in work-based learning/internship Barriers Small county – few sites Most sites are grant-funded with limited budgets Small numbers of students so difficult to provide a consistent student to site each semester/year Many sites have age requirements due to clientele, confidentiality, etc. Difficulty with WIOA funding with out-of- county students

Work-Based Learning – Plans/Strategies Fall 2016 Hope Clinic – Provides free healthcare to Pamlico County and surrounding communities for low-income, uninsured adults Student will be providing case management to patients/clients Student and site will be “guinea pigs” for future opportunities Successes will then be shared with other potential sites
