The Learning and Skills Council n Birth: April 2001 n Responsible for funding, quality control and co- ordination of all (bar HE) post 16 education (including school VIth forms from April 2002) –FE colleges –prisons –UFI/ Learndirect –Local authority (adult ed/ libraries) –private providers.

The LSC Priorities n n Inclusive Learning –Lifelong Learning –Widening Participation –Basic Numeracy and Literacy Disaffected and Disengaged Controlled Curriculum via QCA

English FE n Over 400 Colleges –General –Agricultural –VIth form n Range of partnerships with HE n Little research but lots of good practice only local competition
