They live in mud brick and wooden homes, with delicately carved doors and pillars. These robust folk live off of farming, stockbreeding, and handcrafts. The Naxi people are known for being warm and kind and are splendid hosts for any visitor to Yunnan province. After a hunt, they will share a piece of the kill with casual passersby, and prepare many delicious dishes to treat their guests.

Travelling Around The Province Yunnan has become easier to reach in recent years. Kunming, the provincial capital, is location to the main international airport, with flights to many Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand. Visitors transiting without a visa now can stay 72 hours. A second international airport has recently opened in the southwest border area of Xishuangbanna. In total, there are 11 airports operating in the provinces, making travel within Yunnan and to other parts of China more convenient.

Negative Aspects Yunnan Province is still developing modern sanitation in many of its cities. Travellers who go to the province sometimes experience gastro intestinal illnesses. Malaria and dengue fever are not unknown in the tropical regions. Since many parts of Yunnan are remote finding metical treatment can be difficult. Yunnan, nonetheless, has made progress in developing in front line medical facilities. Travellers today rarely have any problems when going to Yunnan.
