What is an iPad?  A tablet computer designed by Apple Inc. appropriate for elementary students-adults  Has a multi-touch screen  Virtual keyboard  Built in Wi-Fi  Actions  Shoot video  Take photos  Play music  / web browsing  Other functions through apps:  Games  GPS navigation  Social networking

What is an App??  Definition: a piece of software that can run on the internet, on your iPad/computer, or on your phone or other electronic device  Designed to perform a specific function for the user [1] [2]

Apps: Pages, Numbers, & Keynote  Pages: students can insert photos, videos, and graphics into their “papers”  Numbers: tables, charts, graphs are available and more efficient than excel  Keynote: presentations can be made with effects and transitions  All are available with a mere touch of a button---and easy to use!!

Access for the Classroom  Easy touch screen technology  Kids at a very young age can learn and know how to use the iPad efficiently  Portable format allows students to carry to classes  Fast load-up time  does not take away from instruction time [3] [4]
