Objectives Students will familiarize themselves with the Roadtrip Nation & Resume builder features of Family Connection. Students will learn about the different components of a resume. Students will have the opportunity to explore features of Roadtrip Nation on their own and begin to create their resume through their Family Connection account.

Leaders: Individuals interviewed on the Road who share the insights and perspectives they gained as they defined their own Roads in life. Themes: Leaders address their own trials and learning related to the particular theme (e.g. risk, determination). Interests: A subject or activity that you feel a strong connection to, which you are willing to continue exploring. Basing your studies on your Interests may offer you the greatest chance of achieving happiness and satisfaction with your future (e.g. medicine, art).

The Resume What is a resume? What do you need a resume for? What information will you find on a resume?

Objective The resume objective tells an employer or college what you are looking to do for a job or what kind of college you are looking to attend. Example: “I am seeking admission to a distinguished college or university for the fall of 2017”

Education List the high schools you have attended Include your expected year of graduation You may want to note your GPA, class rank, or courses you are taking that are applicable to the application Example: Forest Park High School Expected Graduation: June, 2018 GPA: 3.8 Taking Advanced Placement English and Economics

Work Experience Include all work experience List in chronological order with the most current work experience first Include active descriptions of the tasks and duties your job entailed Example: Baby-sitter (06/08 – present) Minneapolis, MN Provide safe environment for two children twice a week Maintain family rules and routines Prepare healthy meals
