Why or why not?  Which section of the task was the most difficult? Why was it difficult?

“It’s a Finding-Out Friday, and because it’s Friday, you know what that means…”

1. Review the entire powerpoint presentation. 2. Write the reflection after seeing the images (be ready to turn this in Monday). 3. Anticipate answers to the discussion questions. 4. Copy down the page references. 5. Prepare for your quiz on Monday by reading and re-reading your book!

We will examine a few photographs taken both before and after the bombing of Dresden. Be forewarned: some of the images may be disturbing.

After seeing the “before” and “after” images of Dresden, how might your opinion of the novel or the characterization of Kurt Vonnegut change? Explain your answer.

Answer on a separate sheet of paper. Use PQA (Put the Question in the Answer). Be as specific as possible – Use QUOTES. 1. Why might Billy be attracted to the Tralfamadorian belief about death (p )? 2. How does Billy’s occupation parallel Tralfamadorian philosophy (p )? 3. Describe Weary. How does he—as a character— support or refute Vonnegut’s argument about war?

4. So far, how does Slaughterhouse-Five function as a “war book?”

Major themes, quotes, and questions coming up… - page 53 – the corporal’s boots - page 61 – crying - page 67 – “I” - page 73 – “mustard gas and roses” - page 75 – Hitler, Adam and Eve
