REMINDER TURN IN THE TRUSS VIEW DRAWING TO THE WIRE BASKET ON THE TEACHERS DESK. WARNING DO NOT THROW THE DRAWING AWAY. THE DRAWING IS A SUMMATIVE GRADE.

VIEW ALL THE SLIDES OF THIS POWERPOINT BEFORE CONSTRUCTING YOUR ROADBED! Be creative with your roadbed design! Laminate pieces side by side (no Limit) Stack pieces on top of each other (2 pieces max.)

GET THE ROADBED WORKSHEET NOT GRADED! DO NOT COVER THE HOLE IN THE TEST BLOCK!

TAPE THE ROADBED WORKSHEET TO THE FOAM BOARD AT THE 4 CORNERS. YOU WILL NEED A DIME SIZE DOT OF GLUE ON A PIECE OF SMALL SCR AP PAPER. NO WAX PAPER IS NEEDED!

STAND UP THE 2 TRUSSES ON THE 2 SOLID BLACK LINES AND TAPE THE TRUSS TO THE PAPER. PLACE THE TAPE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TRUSS. ROADBED PIECES WILL BE PLACE WHERE THE TEST BLOCK IS LOCATED. NOTE: TRUSS NEEDS TO STAND VERTICALLY

THE 2 TRUSSES STANDING VERTICALLY IS IMPORTANT FOR THE TEST BLOCK TO FIT THROUGH THE OPENING.

THE TOP OF THE TRUSS SHOULD MEASURE 2 ½ INCHES

TEST BLOCK MUST FIT BETWEEN THE 2 TRUSSES

Cut the Balsa Wood into 2-1/2” pieces. Your decision on how many pieces. 2-1/2”

Balsa Wood Laminated Side by Side (No Limit) 4 pieces laminated side by side

YOU MAY LAY PIECES ON TOP OF EACH OTHER (2 PIECES MAX.) 2 pieces of balsa wood stack on top of each other! GREAT JOB! 3 pieces of balsa wood stacked on top of each other! DON’T DO IT!

IMPORTANT - LAY THE ROADBED PIECES ON TOP OF THE BOTTOM PIECE (10” piece)OF THE TRUSS. CAUTION: NOT IN BETWEEN THE 2 TRUSSES The Roadbed piece is laying on top of the bottom piece (10” piece)of the truss. GREAT JOB! The Roadbed piece is laying between the 2 trusses. DON’T DO IT!!!!

USE THE REMAINING BALSA WOOD TO FORM A ROADBED. PLACE THE ROADBED BALSA WOOD PIECES WHERE THE TEST BLOCK IS LOCATED. DON’T ADD MANY PIECES TOWARDS THE END OF THE TRUSSES WHERE THE TEST BLOCK IS NOT LOCATED. DO NOT COVER THE HOLE ON THE TEST BLOCK.

BALSA WOOD OVERHANG!! No Overhang! GREAT JOB! Overhang! DON’T DO IT!!

YOU MUST ADD AT LEAST 2 PIECES FOR THE TOP GOOD JOB! NO OVERHANGE! TOP PIECES ARE OVERHANGING! OH MY! ONE TRUSS IS TALLER CAUSING THE SLANTED AFFECT!
